A new friend!

Today Becca got a new Build-a-Bear! His name is Max, and he is very soft and cuddly tiger!

Picking out which new friend she wanted...

Getting Max the Tiger stuffed with fluff!!

Max getting his first bath!!

Becca had a very hard time deciding on what to name her new tiger, but she finally decided on Max!
Becca was very happy after getting Max. He is going to be a good addition to our family!!!
That's all for today!

New Hobby, I think

I have wanted to learn to do stained glass for some time. So last week I decided there was no better time than now. So I went out and purchased the supplies, got a small amount of instruction, and this is the result...

I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I learned some lessons and have some ideas for a better product in the future.

Baby birds

We just discovered that we have a bird nest in the bush right out side our dining room window. It has a mama cardinal sitting in it. We still don't know how many eggs are in there. This will be fun to watch them hatch and grow. The nest is only about 3 feet from the window so we will have a great spot to watch them from! We will keep you posted with photos.

Redbud Trees

Mom wanted some pictures of the red bud trees in the back yard so we could show you something that you don't get to see every day.

-Zach

Today......

Kevin working all day then stopping to get some help with his new hobby ~~ stained glass. More about that later.......
Josh working 8-5
Sarah ~ normal school day
Zach ~ helped me this morning taking KC to the vet. I need him to lift her in and out of the van. She is getting old and things are not working any longer. We think she has arthritis. Her back legs just give out on her. She falls pretty often anymore. The worst is when she falls on the stairs ~ and we have 3 levels plus stairs at all 3 doors into the house! UGH She is 13 1/2 for those wondering.
Becca ~ since Christmas we are back on our 3 weeks on 1 week off of school. So this is her week off. So she has been working on piano and Awana. She is memorizing 1 Corinthians chapter 13. She has memorized almost all of it in a week! Oh to have a young mind! After those things she ironed a couple of dress shirts for me. What a day that was last week when she learned to iron dress shirts. :) Between Josh and Kevin we have 8-10 dress shirts to be ironed every week. So I'm thrilled to help with that job. Now she is on to watching Cinderella (I think).
Today for me it was the vet, store, got gas in the van, cleaned up after lunch, separated some seedlings that we had planted, moved a couple plants out to the patio, started dinner.........
Here is the gardenia that I got from some of the kids for my birthday.Another snapshot of our Rose. She has free run on our screened in patio. Thankfully she doesn't chew on too many things out there. I do have to make sure all my plants are up high. :) Kathy

Easter 2009

Here is the family Easter photo:

In order to get the beautiful curls in the photo below she had to sleep in the curlers in the photo above! :)
We spent the day with friends that live in KC. We have known them since the first time that we lived in KC, 10 years ago.

Miscellaneous stuff from the last few weeks.

I am going to start with the oldest events first.

BBQ Training and Cold Weather

A couple of weeks ago I took a BBQ class to learn how to prepare and smoke brisket, pork shoulders, ribs and chicken. It was a great event that was tied to a send-off party for a young family we know here that is going to Hawaii to start a ministry for Military Kids. The classroom stuff lasted from 5:30PM to 8:30PM on Friday night. I had to be back at the location at 3AM Saturday morning. The weather two days before was in the 70's and no rain. Saturday morning the thermometer was reading in the teens. Quite a swing. But that's not all, about 5 am it began to rain and that turned to snow later in the morning. We had canopies set up with fire pits underneath and grills surrounding our little "homeless village". It was great!!! We were there until 8 PM Saturday night. The BBQer's used our products to have a feast for the send-off. The best thing was the great discussions we had and the camaraderie and then the eating! I learned a great skill that night. I'll stack my BBQ up against anyone.
AWANA Grand Prix

Last weekend our church held our Grand Prix. We had 4 entries from the Gentzler Family. It was an exciting event. I won my first ever AWANA prize, taking third place for speed in the open category - yes there were more than three competitors.Becca made a Book Car on the far right.
Zach had a different design with lot's of weight in the back (Red lane)Josh and I are in Yellow and Green lanes

A BIG event in the Gentzler home.
Sarah got her learner's permit!!!!!!

Dad's hair before driving with Sarah.

Note the change in Dad's hair color after driving with Sarah!

Not really!! She did an excellent job on her first driving lesson. We go to the cemetery to train them. Becca asked me if that was so we would be in the right spot if something happened.

TURKEY SEASON!!!!

I don't get to hunt much but my favorite season is spring turkey season. Today my day started at 0430. I was fortunate to be able to take some time to enjoy the day and the season in the woods. It was a brisk, clear, calm morning about 35 to start. We heard 4 Toms but could not get them in close. So instead of getting any turkeys I had to settle for some nice pictures.Well that is probably enough for now. I'm sure you will hear more from us soon.

Mom's new birthday present!

The year for Mom's birthday Dad got her a Cricut! It is a very cool little machine, and we've really loved getting to play with it so far!
Here are some of our first cut-outs...it can make everything from letters to hearts and flowers. We are really going to have fun with this!!!
That's pretty much it for now! ~Sarah
