New paint job

This past week Virginia (my friend from Texas) and I decided to repaint my room! It went from this color:
to this color:I love the the new color!! I'm really happy with how it turned out!!!!
Some of the in between pictures. At this point (only one coat of paint) the wall looked decidedly mustard yellow. But after we got the second coat on the green came through!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.......

Rain, turned to sleet, turned to snow. 4-8 inches before it is done, so they say.
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tea

The other day we had a Christmas tea. Our special guests were Grandma, Virginia and the Waugh girls. After our refreshments we made a craft.

Here is an example of our snowflakes that we made.

Merry Christmas Eve!!!!

a Little Art Project

This week Becca and I made a couple of candles. We were using up left over wax from other candles. We used a juice can and a butter box for the forms. Stuck a taper candle in the middle, filled in around it with ice chunks and then poured the wax in. Quick, easy and fun.

Surprise!

We had a huge surprise for Sarah yesterday. Her friend from Texas flew in and she didn't know a thing about her coming! Sarah and Zach were watching a movie about WWII for school. I went down with the camera to get some photos of them "doing school" wink, wink. ;) So I happened to have the camera in hand when Virginia walked into the room.~~Kathy~~~

Bag Pipes here we come....

Becca has wanted to learn to play the bagpipes for about 4 years. Recently we bought her a chanter. A chanter is the first step in learning the bagpipes. :)~~Kathy~~~

Kevin's trip to Florida

Kevin and 2 of the pastors from our church made a quick trip to FL last weekend. Our church in FL had a ministry that we were involved in when we lived there. It was called Walk Thru Bethlehem. It is held for 4 days each December. We told the pastor here about it and they went down to see it in action. Kevin came home with lots of pictures and it made me want to be down there again! But it was lots of fun to see pictures of friends. This was taken during the day when the pastor was walking them thru the city so that they could see what it looks like. The guy on the left is the pastor from the church down there and the one on the right is our pastor from here.

These 2 below are just a couple of extra shots Kevin took.

Sunday's Post

The photo above is thru the screen. Kind of a cool, unintended effect.
I wish that you could see how pretty this is. The covering of snow on the trees and bushes is wonderful. The Christmas lights shine thru the snow and it is so neat.

As you can see, I didn't step out very far to take these pics. I just opened the front door and snapped away.

Saturday's post

We had a (forced) family craft night last week. Tee Hee. The boys weren't thrilled to hear that we were going to be crafting together. But all was well. We made the snowflake together and it only took about 10 minutes. I think they had visions of hours of crafting fun (my word). This is a quick, easy craft and it only uses 6 sheets of computer paper and a bit of glue. The idea came from my friend's blog. (Hi Susan) Go here if you want to learn how to make them: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/beautiful_paper_snowflakeA shot of the birds enjoying the food that we put out for them.

A glimpse into our home.......

The wall quilt above has a special memory for me. A friend from Italy came to visit us when we lived in Germany. She and I took a class at the craft shop on post and we each made a quilt.
Becca and I were in a crafting mood the other night and this was my creation.
A photo thru the girl's bedroom window. I hope that you can see the beautiful designs that the frost is making on the window.
Josh taking his turn cleaning the driveway. I believe the temp outside at the time of this photo was about 9` and the windchill was in the negatives. Burr..........

Winter storm

The kids are out at Ft. Leavenworth. They called some friends this morning and got a group to meet at "Suicide Hill", yes that is what it is called. It is at the top of a hill overlooking the Missouri River. Here are a few pics of what it looks like in our yard this morning. They are calling for us to get several more inches of snow today before it is over. This little feathered friend decided to visit us on our patio. I don't know how he got in because the patio door was closed, but I opened it for him after I took a couple pics of him. Here are a few shots of the Christmas decor around the house.~~Kathy~~~
