Look what we did tonight!

We went to Theater in the Park tonight with Grandma and Papa G and our friend Hannah. I know that the group picture is blurry, but it was from my phone. :) We saw the first half of Cinderella, but they stopped it at intermission (actually a few minutes before) because of weather. A good time was had by all. :)

Italy #8

Here is the view as we left the mountains.
We were buying tickets for the Venice city bus (boat). Clearly Beth was loaded down with bags. :)The view out our hotel room window.
Have a great day, ya'll. I'm off to help a friend paint her basement.

My Trip to Haiti, Part 2

These are just some pictures of the kids that I'd thought I would share.
This cutie is Jimmy. He is quite the character!!

The girls love to jump rope! They are very good at it!
This is Betty. She is about 11 years old and we got to be special friends while I was down there. We spent a lot of time getting to know each other and did a lot of crafts together.

Italy #7

We moved onto Castelrotto, which is in the north of Italy. It has changed hands between Italy and Austria a few times over the years. As a result over 80% of the people speak German as their first language, 14% speak Ladin (which is only spoken in the Dolomite Mountains) and 3% speak Italian. As you can see by the pictures it looks like you are in Germany. It was beautiful and so very different from the first 5 days that we had been in Italy. I had to keep reminding myself that we were in Italy!
Here is our hotel.
Clearly there was something interesting up there! Tee Hee I think they were looking at the tower:The above was the view from our hotel balcony. :)The town cemetery.
More later!

My Trip to Haiti, Part 1

I spent the past ten days at Haiti Home of Hope in Pignon, Haiti. HHH is home to 47 orphans and I was privileged to get to work with the kids there. I have a lot to share!!! :)

We flew from Kansas City to Ft. Pierce, Florida. In Florida we got on a D-C3 airplane to fly to Haiti. You can see the plane on the runway. On the way to Haiti one of the other passengers was a missionary who had been serving the Haitian people for 45 years!

Our view of Haiti as we flew into Cap Haitian.

My friend Melissa and I!
Emily (on the left) is holding Rosie and Gilene. Audrey is holding Galane and Lulu. Gilene and Galane are twins and they can't seem to remember who is who. :)

This is Benji. She is 7 years old, but because of malnutrition she is about the size of 5 year old. She is so precious and so sweet!!

That's all for now! Many more pictures to come!!

Victory Garden

We have a garden plot this year. They have "Victory Gardens" on post that you can rent. We have a nice size yard, but we also have 20 something trees shading it, thus it is not a good place to grow a garden.
Last night B and I went and checked on it and were pleased to see that we had some produce ready to pick. The above pic is B with the cucumbers. Kevin and I picked 2 the other night and B and I picked 6 last night and there are several more getting close to picking time.
Here she is with "her" plot. She has onions, basil and 3 tomato plants. They are doing great!
Here is what we picked last night. 2 Zucchini, 6 cucumbers, some basil and some lemon balm.
This is the sign at the entrance of the gardens! Not everyone can claim to have that sign near their gardens! :)
