Church Picnic!
This past weekend we went to our church picnic! We had a lot of fun hanging out with everybody there!
A giant game of Tug-of-war!!!

They played a game where you get a big sponge wet and then chuck it over the volley ball net at someone on the opposite team. If was fun to watch! :)

Antique Store Find
I was quite surprised when I opened the front cover to discover the name that had been written in the book by the original owner. She shared our last name!!!! That is very unusual. We never, never, never find anyone with our last name! You can see it in the photo below.

Flood update
sweets last week
Last Thursday we had an "Ice Breaker" for Kevin's new class. We decided to do coffee and dessert. Here is what we served:

We are under a flash flood warning here today. Sometimes when you see on the tv that there is a flash flood warning you just don't think a thing about it. It is just another part of life. But, today here at our house it is reality. This is what our backyard looks like:
The shed that you see in the above picture was our tool shed in TX. But since we have been here it has been Becca's playhouse. About 30 minutes ago we watched it float into the neighbor's yard. It is still there, lodged in some of their trees. But it is coming apart. It is a sad day for Becca. She had toys and such in there.

Home again
This week I went down to my sister's house. She is getting ready to move to a new house and I wanted to help out a bit. So we spent a good amount of time boxing up mostly her basement. Hot, dusty work, but it needed to be done. Got lots of stuff boxed up and labeled, several trash bags filled and by the dumpster and a huge pile ready and waiting for a garage sale next weekend.
Since all my kids had some kind of commitment or other, I went by myself. Kind of strange leaving my whole family like that, but they seemed to do just fine. As a matter of fact, the house looked so good when I got back and a nice dinner was waiting for me that it makes me wonder if I am missed at all when I am gone!!!! ;)
The 3 older kids went to Schlitterbahn one day this week. For those of you who don't know what that is ~ it is a water park in KC. The original Schlitterbahn is in New Braunfels, TX. Not too far from where we were in TX. We have been to that one many times. The new one that opened here in KC this summer is very small, but they said that it will be huge by the time it is done ~ but that won't be for a few years. Becca has been enjoying swim lessons this week. Well, enjoying it all except for the diving that started yesterday. Not too keen on that part of the lessons. :)
Busy week coming up for us around here. We start school on Monday and I still have lots to do to get ready for that. My neighbor goes in for cemo on Monday and I know that we will be needed to help her out. (S and Z will be helping her out today) Next week we are having a "coffee and dessert" night here at our home for about 30 folks. But I will tell you more about that later!
